Portfolio - My Educational Experiences

Due to my educational experiences, I am currently now leaving Sophomore year and going into my Junior year. This year has been better than ever. I am understanding more about technology as I go. I am also gaining more vocabulary and speaking skills. I also learned how to pick my groups or partner more wisely when it comes to projects. When I was a freshman I did not use as much technology until I came to San Pasqual Academy. I did not know how to use it that well and during the last year and a half I have improved a lot. My teacher Mrs. Priester has our class do vocabulary cards that we have to write a sentence, the definition, and add a picture to prove that we know what the word means. I am also learning to talk to people more often and communicate with them properly instead of using slang words. When I have a group or a partner project I have been able to work faster because I have picked someone who actually does there work and work at my pace. I make sure that I do my homework and turn it in on time. I also make sure that my work looks presentable. I also make sure that I study for I can do well on my tests.

Collaboration
Strengths: Some of my streangths when I work with a partner or a group is that I get things done.
Weaknesses:I don't take my time and talk to people in the group when I need help.

Listening/Speaking
Strengths:I can conversate with people and I have good listening skills.
Weaknesses:When I don't want to listen to what people say I doze off.

Reading
Strengths:I read books that are at my reading level that can advance my reading and vocabulary.
Weaknesses:I don't read as much because it is hard to find a book that can catch my attention.

Social Skills
Strengths: I get along with people and have good conversations.
Weaknesses: I don't really like to work with partners.

Study Skills
Strengths:I know how to manage my time when I have very little to deal with.
Weaknesses:I like to procratinate every once in a while.

Technology
Strengths:I kjow how to embed a picture and create a website.
Weaknesses:I look at the key board when I type which makes me type slower.

Writing
Strengths:I can write really good stories and poems.
Weaknesses:My Spanish some what gets in the way so my essays are not all that great.

Portfolio - Improvement

Over the past two years, I have Improved a lot . My freshman year was a going good when I was attending Morse High School. My grades were not all that great but I was happy and had no problems. Then I came to San Pasquale Academy. I came here by choice. I did not know that I would have this much trouble with computers. I did not use them as much. On top of all that I somewhat failed my freshman year. I did a lot better my Sophomore year. My grades improved a lot, I got off two hour and received awards for my academic and citizen ship. I have to give myself around of applause. I was proud of myself. I knew I could do it, I just did not bother trying. In Middle School my writing skills were okay but could have been better with some practice. Now my writing skills are almost good and I have less corrections to make on my essays. I had finally chose to practice on my writing skills and started to do better each time. My reading skills before High School was at college base. I read a lot during the school year and during the summer I just stopped and didn't bother reading. I still don't read as much but my reading level has dropped to a 12th grade level. Not bad but could have been better. I did not improve on my reading level but still have the chance to bring it back to college level again. My speaking skills before High School were not all that great because I did speak Spanish in between my English so that hurt my English just a little. My speaking skills are doing better than ever and I am proud that I can talk without having to think before I talk. They improved by taking speech skills and taking an extra English class. My group skills before high school were horrible. I did not like working in a group. I disliked the fact that when I was in a group I was the one stuck doing all the work. I still don't really like working in groups but the groups that I am usually in are good at all of us doing our part of the project. They improved by choosing the students who actually do there work. I did not use the computers as much so they were not all that great. My computer skills have improved a lot since I had Mrs. Priester as my teacher. My tech skills improved by me asking for help when I needed it. I am going to continue to work hard and ask for help when I need it. I will also pay attention more and get along better with my peers.

Portfolio - Future

How do you feel about your future? I feel very confident about my future. I know that if I keep my mind straight in what I want to do I can accomplish anything. What are your goals for the future? My goals for my future is to graduate high school and attend college. I want to major in forensic anthropology and in math and science. I want to also get a degree in criminal justice. I want to become a Lawyer and a Forensic Anthropologist. How have your previous experiences prepared you to reach each of these goals? My previous experiences prepared me a lot. If I had never went to school or had help and encouragement from my teachers I don't even know if I could do it. What do you need to continue to work on in order to achieve each of your goals? I need to continue doing well in school and having the support from my friends and family. Who will help you to achieve your goals? I hope that my friends, family, and teachers will help me because I have helped them at least once since I have known them. Do you genuinely believe you will achieve your goals? Why or why not? I generally do believe that I will achieve my goals because I am field with confidence and if I don't make it the first time I just get back up and try it again until I accomplish what I have started and put my mind into. I don't believe in they words "I can't do it" because when you say you can't that just means you won't and you are setting yourself up for failure. So I try not to put myself down, I try to gain positive energy. That is my motivation in succeeding.

Playwrights Project Play Performance Paragraph

During the performances of the actors I felt suffering. I am not sure why I felt it, but I do have to say that the majority of the plays were really sad and had a lot of pain that was being expressed that was not shown before. The plays were very touching and amazing at the same time. The reason why I felt this way was because most of the plays were about death. Another reason was because it was about them not fitting in or not self confident. The last reason was because some were about getting kidnapped or just given up. I had lost my father when I was eight years old. My brother was shot and killed in a drive bye in front of me when I was only four years old. I was traumatized and filled with anger and sadness. My grandmother passed away a week before my sixteenth birthday. I was given up at birth and was put in the system when I was only three weeks old. I was raped in the system, I was also abused. When I was seven I had low self esteem but now I am confident about the way I look. I just told myself to be strong and don't let people get in the way of my goals.
