Fourth Quarter Kickoff Reflection

In the morning we were told that all grades were to go to there classes that they were told to go to. I am a sophomore so I went to the tech center in room 8 with the Coach Burgo. We watched a movie and ate popcorn during it. Toward the end we had to write down on a piece of paper what our goal for fourth quarter is. Then we folded them up and passed them to the teacher. Then the bell rang and we went to lunch. Lunch was fun because I had friends that are funny and are not afraid to show there personality. We played gold fish and black jack at the table we were all sitting. Then after we had to go to our teams. I was on team six. Our teachers were Mr. Orozco and Mrs. Ramirez. We played capture the flag in the GYM and we won that. Then we went to the softball field and played softball. That was fun. If we were to mess up Mr. Oroczo made us do ten push ups to correct our mistakes. We won that game too. Then we went to the football field to play relay races and we won those too which Mr. Orozco was happy about. Then when we were done we played Duck Duck Goose until the bell rang. The day was great and fun playing with people who liked to participate in the activities.

Fourth Quarter Goals

Fourth Quarter I plan to get a 4.0 GPA. In order for me to achieve that goal I need to
  • get all my homework done and turned in on time
  • stay more focused on school than what is going on around me
  • study extra hard for test and stay up until all my homework is done.
Last quarter I was almost there but then toward the end I began to slack off. This quarter I am going to try hard and not make the same mistake twice. I want that 4.0 and I am going to get it by doing what I need to do in school.

What I Learned in the Third Quarter of English 9/10

In third quarter we learned about poetry and allegory. An example of poetry is, "Roses are red, Violets are blue...." Allegory is talking to an object as if it was human. Poetry was fun and we even got to assign homework to students from what poem we were assigned to. In poetry we were assigned a poem and had to make a class work and homework for the class. We had to teach the class what the meaning of our poem was. I thought that is was difficult and easy at the same time. We got to hear many different types of poems and had students teach there own way. Allegory was fairly simple and easy I got a hand of it very quickly. I knew that it was something that was connected to poetry. Worked on poetry for about a month or so and then moved from there. This quarter I did good and hope to continue with my excellence. In order for me to do that I need to work hard and finish all my homework assessments.

“Where Have You Gone, Charming Billy?” Narrative

I am a first time marine registered in the army. I am currently in Vietnam war. I am not going to lie I am afraid but I can not say that out loud. When I am at war I try to think that I am somewhere else and not in war. That is a way to get rid of my fear. I just saw one of my own men have a heart attack. I am beginning to get freaked out. I am exhausted because I have not slept and I am beginning to close my eyes. It is wet and i am walking in mud paddies. I close my eyes and the man next to me talks and I don't hear him until he says are you sleeping and I say no Sr. I am awake. Toward the end my chest begins to beat faster and I am feel like I am going to pass out. I began to panache and I say I am having a heart attack. And I notice I am there and I go on and That is it.

“Where Have You Gone, Charming Billy?” Breaking News

Good afternoon citizens of the U.S. Today's news is about the death of one of our own military men. Here is Jessica for our report; Hello, so we are here to report the death of Billy Boy. While in war walking in the putty mud and with no sleep he had a heart attack. He was a great soldier and important to all of us especially to his family. He was in the Vietnam War and hoping that he would come back alive. He was a first timer and was scared and did not know what to do. All this commotion got to him and started to pump his heart beat faster and faster. Wait I was just told he gave himself a heart attack and died from morphine. Well we will all miss him.

CAHSEE Reflection

Today I had taken the CHASEE an I have to be honest it was pretty easy. I thought that it was going to be hard. The only part that I had trouble was with the five paragraph essay. I had trouble figuring out what I was going to write about. Over all I think that I did good. I tried my best, no one can tell me I didn't. Testing got me exhausted and worn out. Afterward I was so drained that all I wanted to do was sleep and do nothing. I know sounds lazy but I think that it is a good idea. I was done early during the first section and I went in the back room and that room was really cold. The second part took me longer and it had more reading, I dislike reading something that I don't chose to read. There was two stories that caught my attention which was a poem and a story about a girl who had a history project about a Native American Women. Tomorrow I will be taking the math section and I feel like I am going to pass it with flying colors. It's nothing but Algebra 1 which is junior high school math. It might be hard for most students because most of us are in Geometry or Algebra 2. We have not learned it in a while. So yeah, it should be really easy for me. I like math a lot, I like the equations and trying to figure everything out.

Enlist Paragraph

If I was living during Vietnam War I would enlist because it would give me a chance to help serve my country under a good deed. I think that during that time their may have been a great deal of confusion but I would still join because I had wanted to be a Navy Seal but unfortunately they do not allow women to become one. Over all I would like to become apart of the Navy for then there will be no discrimination against women and I can be apart of the U.S Coast Guard. I would like to be a Marine but they do not send out women because men would prefer to have other men stand next to them because they think women can't handle it. My answer is yes because it would give me a bigger chance to be and have a say in government problems. I would also be notified about what is going on around the world. I would be able to learn military time and still be healthy. It would also give me a chance to learn the ways of nature and skills that can be handy to most people. I would be honored to enlist in the military or marine corps and die knowing I at least made an attempt to help the people in my country.

Primary and Secondary Sources Comparison

They both contain facts about an event or a person. They also both have at least one eyewitness. A primary source is a person who was there at the time of the event. An examples of primary sources could be a diary written from a person who was at the event. Another example is an eyewitness news report which is someone who was there at the time of the incident and saw everything. Last example is a personal essay which is a person writing about themselves and what they had seen or experienced. A secondary source is a person who knew some one who was at the event, and they were not. One example of secondary source is a history book which is not exact information, it is all hear words. Another example is a text book which is all hear from other people or made up information, it is not all exact. It can help during a crime or can help you with information needed to write a report or a solve a crime.

Feelings about the CAHSEE

I am taking the CAHSEE and is nervous about the English section of the test because when I wrote the five paragraph I had good examples but ended up turning into a story. I am not so much worried about the math section. I love math and plus I am really good at it too. English vocabulary is difficult to me but all the writing and reading is easy. In order to do well I am going to study to pass the English section. I am nervous that I am going to fail and have to retake it next year which I hope I don't have to do. I am also somewhat confident because I have been doing well in Priester's class. I have to admit that the reading part will get me board but I know that I have to try reading the story instead of skipping it and going straight to the questions.
