What I learned in English 10 Second Quarter

What I learned in English ten second quarter was the different types of themes, irony, and what is the characters and readers points of view. Prietser had showed me allot about how I can join in on an online conversation and how I can create a poll. I had also learned that I can join in on a contest that can benefit the school or any school in the state. She showed us this cool website that can help us create an online persuasive project. It was simple and easy, you can try if you want to. I have learned new vocabulary almost every day and have learned to explain ambiguity in text. n blogger I can post comments and create a project that celebrates a holiday online. Also on blogger I can write about anything even my days on the campus I live on. On Google docs I was able to learn about creating my own graphic organizer and publishing it on the web. Another thing on blogger you can create new pages and embed new projects that are shown around the world. It is safe and harmless if you learn to use it correctly. I also can crate a poll that I can have others rate my writing. I also learned how to make a quiz for friends and family. Those quizzes are actually fun and can be for any subject. I also have a delicious account and can make new bookmarks about any vocabulary or events that are happening.

Shop 'til You Drop Extra Credit

Shop till you drop was fun because we got to decorate cookies. They also gave stockings with candy and a ten dollar gift certificate to star buck. Then we got this small bag and inside was another box with an iPod Nano. Everyone was so excited. We got to walk around take pictures and get clothes. Toward the end we had a raffle. They gave out gift baskets and electronics. The biggest prize of them all was the x-box. After that we all went home and everyone left with something in there hand. No one left empty handed. Some left with more because they won the raffle.

"Lamb to the Slaughter" - I'm the Detective

If I was a detective investigating the murder of Patrick Maloney in “Lamb to the Slaughter” by Roald Dahl, I would have made sure that the house closed. Then I would check the time of death and how long the turkey had been cooking. I think that if I were to check the temp and time of death I would find out who the murder was. I would also make sure that every thing was finger printed and check her alibi. I would have been a hard working detective. I also think that I would be the kind of detective that won't stop until I find out who the killer is.

"Lamb to the Slaughter" Mary's Giggling

At the end of "Lamb to the Slaughter" by Roald Dahl, Mary Maloney begins giggling because she got away with the murder of her husband. She also was eating with the weapon with all the sheriffs and when the detective said "The weapon must be here on the premises and it is probably underneath our noses for that fact." The detective began to finish his food. After the police leave the house I predict that Mary will be taking a breath and say to herself that it was a close one. Then she would begin to notice that she is alone. Then she will cry into tears because her husband is dead, she is alone, and is going to live with the guilt.

The Cold Equations’ – Marilyn’s Point of View

In Marilyn's point of view was that she was just a girl who wanted to see her brother that was on another ship. Her brother was going to be gone for an extra two years. She just danced her way on and when a cleaning lady came on she hid quickly. Then the shuttle left and she was still on it. When she heard a guy calling her out because his job was to kill any trespassers. She was not afraid. When she heard that every trespasser that was in the ship had to die. She was afraid and confused. She did not understand why. She just wanted to see her brother. Then she wrote a letter to her mother and father. Then she wrote a letter to brother. Then she knew what had to be done and she died at the end. She was careless in the beginning and then afraid in the middle. Then at the end she was brave and knew what she had to do.

Situational Irony in My Life

About 10 months ago I interviewed to come to San Pascual Academy.Just 9 months ago I moved in to girls 2. Before I moved in I promised myself that I would not date anyone and will stay away from drama. That promise broke when I dated a guy who once lived in boys 7. Along with dating him came drama. I was so stressed out and wanted to leave SPA
because this was not what I came here for. Man, was I getting sick of the same thing going on every day. Everyone talking behind everyone's back. Even the closest people who called each other best friends talked about each other. I thought that dating a guy would not be so dramatic, but those around me thought that it should be huge. Lies were told, rumors spread around campus. I finally broke up with him and my life was calm and drama free. Then I dated him again and along came more drama and troubles. I thought this place was going to be great but instead it became my worst nightmare. Then I realized that this place only gets better when you make it better. You can't have a good day unless you tell yourself that you will have a good day.

First Persuasive Paragraph

At that age freshman are not mature enough to handle that much responsibility. Younger students are easily influenced by their peers and which at times it can get them into trouble. Students at that age are in need of supervision. Typically students around that age don't display responsibility and are often impulsive. Younger children can be easily preyed by predators. Transportation is big to them. They can’t drive so they have to take a bus. Freshmen have a habit of talking to those who offer them something or think that they are cool. I know that because I was like that. So no, I would not have received self passes. Self passes require of honesty, responsibility, and well matured.

"The Bass, the River, and Sheila Mant" and "Catch the Moon" Theme Comparison Essay

“I never made the same mistake again.” Luis had been watching the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. In both stories the young teenage boys liked a girl that they barley knew. In the story’s “The Bas, the “River and Sheila Mant” and “Catch the Moon” had something in common which was falling in love with a girl.

The main character in the story was Sheila Mant. Sheila Mant is a girl with long red wavy hair. When she put on that white dress she looked like an angel. She goes to the same school as he does but does not notice him. The main conflict in the story was when he had to choose between the girl and the bass fish. He chose the girl and cut the string to let the fish go. Letting the fish go haunted him all summer. He also said that there will always be more Sheila Mant’s on the world. He promised himself that he will never make the same mistake again.

The main character in the story is Luis. Luis is a young trouble maker that was sent to Juvenal Hall for trespassing an entering a old women's home. He is working at his uncle's junk yard for community service. The main conflict was when his mother died of being ill and didn’t know how to grieve his pain. The way he grieved was when he met a girl and she helped him keep his mind off his mind off his mother. He changed by becoming happier and helping others like helping her find a hubcap for her car. The theme was when he found the hubcap and gave it to her at her house.

My main point of the two story was that both characters liked a girl and had to find a way to build enough courage to speak to a girl to ask them out on a date. The main idea to me was that they both got to have that date and at least talk to the girls. One guy was able to have a friendship with one girl and the other guy had lost the girl because she left him for a guy with a car not a canoe. My final thought was even if they didn’t get the girl, there are always other fish in the sea.

“Catch the Moon” Grief Paragraph

Luis and the grief of his mothers death is not believable because he can't hide the grief for ever. Someday it will come out and he will break out into tears. In real life grief for people can be tragic. Some people take therapy or just keep it in and go home to cry. People can get eating disorders and tell themselves that they do not deserve to be in this world. In Luis's point he kept it in and cried in a car. He also covered his unhappiness and acted as if he was happy. That was called a cover up. In real life people try to cover it up but others can notice it by them putting more on themselves to keep themselves busy. By dealing with grief it can change a person but not dealing with grief cannot.

Homeroom Reform Essay

So many people are tired of learning the same old subjects the same way. There are so many better ways of learning a subject, especially if it includes a hands-on approach. It is time to start learning a new way instead of the old way. San Pasquale Academy is a place where many students are not that interested in school. They complain asking, “Why don’t we have any field trips?” Every time we try to plan one we end up having to cancel it because of the shortage of money. SPA is a school for foster youth who sleep in dorms on campus. This place is like any high school, but if only we could find better ways to learn. We would like to have is some money for field trips.

Our school math class could become better by having some field trips to math leagues or math competitions. In our school we have few students that understand math. We have about half our campus that are not at grade level when it comes to this subject. They say that they don’t understand why math is so important, especially geometry, because we just learn about shapes. English classes can take trips to plays and poetry readings. Science classes can take field trips to aquariums, zoos, and the observatory. Our history classes can take field trips to museums and historical sites. These trips need money for transportation, tour costs, and possible food costs. All these trips will help students to become more interested in school.

By looking at my own experiences and going on field trips that interested me, I have become more interested in certain subjects. I have more understanding and now perform better in these subjects. Also by listening to other kids it helped me to write down their opinions and understand what might motivate them. We want to motivate the students of SPA the same way I was motivated by these field trips. For me it was a lot better to understand when I am working on hands-on projects. I can have a better understanding in what I am doing. When I see students work, I can see how much better they do when they have some one help them along the way.

This project will spark motivation in the students of SPA. Motivated students will perform better in class and will participate in more classroom activities. With having better students there will be better grades. Another way this project may help SPA is helping the teachers to inspire students and become more creative.

This project will be beneficial to students education of SPA. Students need to be inspired to motivate them to become better in certain subjects. When I went on field trips I was able to ask questions and understand what the meaning of all these subjects were. When I am in front watching or hands on it makes a better impact on me. I know it will make a better impact on others as well.

SPA Movies & Games Day

When I arrived to school on Friday I was wondering what we were going to do. When we got to class we were going to watch a movie called "Freedom Writer." The movie was okay because kids were making comments, so it wasn't that fun. After the movie we all went to the gym and played basketball then volleyball. That was not as fun because students were to competitive and wanted to think that they can play better than others around them. After all that we went to the cafe to eat lunch. Lunch was disgusting in my opinion. The veggie burgers were not all that great, I thought that lunch could have been better. After school my day was better because I was in my house away from those who don't like me and drama.

“SPA Theme Song”

Hold On lyrics

I know this pain
Why do lock yourself up in these chains?
No one can change your life except for you
Don't ever let anyone step all over you
Just open your heart and your mind
Is it really fair to feel this way inside?

[Chorus:]
Some day somebody's gonna make you want to
Turn around and say goodbye
Until then baby are you going to let them
Hold you down and make you cry
Don't you know?
Don't you know things can change
Things'll go your way
If you hold on for one more day
Can you hold on for one more day
Things'll go your way
Hold on for one more day

You could sustain
Or are you comfortable with the pain?
You've got no one to blame for your unhappiness
You got yourself into your own mess
Lettin' your worries pass you by
Don't you think it's worth your time
To change your mind?

[Chorus]

I know that there is pain
But you hold on for one more day and
Break free the chains
Yeah I know that there is pain
But you hold on for one more day and you
Break free, break from the chains

Some day somebody's gonna make you want to
Turn around and say goodbye
Until then baby are you going to let them
Hold you down and make you cry
Don't you know?
Don't you know things can change
Things'll go your way
If you hold on for one more day yeah
If you hold on

Don't you know things can change
Things'll go your way
If you hold on for one more day,
If you hold on
Can you hold on
Hold on baby
Won't you tell me now
Hold on for one more day 'Cause
It's gonna go your way

Don't you know things can change
Things'll go your way
If you hold on for one more day
Can't you change it this time

Make up your mind
Hold on
Hold on
Baby hold on

This song called "Hold On" by Wilson Philips is related to SPA by telling me When things get, things can get better by the way you put it. If you want things to become better, you have to let yourself out of those chains and make up your mind. You just have to hold on and don't let people talk bad about you. When you let it bother you it just shows insecurity and it will never stop. It is not worth your time if you think of it. You are not going to let them hold you down and make you cry. There is always going to be pain in life, just don't let them cause your pain. SPA is a place where everyone likes to bring everyone down to make themselves feel good. SPA has a lot of insecure people who just don't know when to stop and let go.

'The Bass, The River, And Sheila Mant" Airhead Stereotype

Sheila Mant is known as a beautiful airhead. She is a red head with a nice figure as it was said in the story. She has know clue that the boy likes her. She was like a bright star that shun in the sun. She didn't know that he tried to impress her by his swimming talent. She didn't even recognize that he was on the swim team. She was popular in her school and was a little not that smart. She had many guys who wanted to date her. When he took her on the canoe, she didn’t realize that he was trying to catch a fish. She was slow on that part; well I would have thought that she would have felt the boat moving.

Internal and External Conflicts "The Bass, the River, and Shelia Mant"

One day he wanted to ask her out, but he just decided to ask her if she would like to go to a party. he said sure and then he went to get her in his canoe. She went with him and was asking all these questions while he noticed a big fish. He wanted to catch it and when he tried he just couldn't. It was the biggest fish he had ever seen. He tried , but then he just let go by cutting the string. Once the got there he had danced with her a couple of times. Then at the end she told him that she was going home with someone else. He then said that was fine. After that he was over her and his little crush, but he was haunted about the fish he could have caught. He then knew that he let a fish go away for a girl. That was his mistake. He wanted the girl, but he wanted the fish more.

Falling In Love

Falling in love as a teenager is called puppy love. When you are a teen you don't know what can happen. Things can be unpredictable when two people are in love. The first person that I have fallen in love with was when I came to SPA. I can't say the name. It is not that strong, but I enjoy having his company. He can be sweet and calm when he is around me. When he is around others he can be loud and hyper. He has a funny side and a moody side, like everyone. He is different; he is also a good cook. If you ever taste his food you would be amazed. When I first met him we had some drama and of course I didn't want that, so I broke up with him. When I broke up with him I still liked him a lot, it was just that he did not know it. After about a couple months’ I went back with him and it was calmer and drama free. Even when I get frustrated I can never hate him. He might not know that, but I do. I can't say that it is really love because love is a strong word. I can say that liking can be strong as well. Love is like to cherries stuck together until one is eaten then the other is as well. Love is sweet and romantic. Also love can be frustrating and deceiving. Love is BEAUTIFUL. Falling in love can really change a person. If one loves the other, that one will try twice as hard to work with their love. When in love, people are motivated by their partner.

Halloween Memory

One of Yajaira's most Halloween memories for the fall was stating high school football for the first time. It was hard at first. Yajaira had to practice during the summer. Yajaira went to hell week every morning before school and after school for seven days straight. Yajaira did not quit and went to every practice. Yajaira saw many guys quit and not show for practice. Yajaira got to get her jersey number and her brand new klets. Yajaira started to love and enjoy football. She was able to play all games until she found out that she had to get knee surgery. Yajaira was upset and every time she went to a game she wanted to play and not just help the coaches. Yajaira got used to playing in the games and not sitting out as a injured player. Yajaira is planning to play next season and the season after that until she graduates. Yajaira wants to play full season until she gets injured really bad. She wants to play the sport in college as well. Yajaira said that playing football was fun and more people should try. She also liked to play guys face to face.

Happy Halloween

"The Highwayman" and "Typhoid Fever" Comparison

The story "The Highwayman" was about how a man is madly in love with the landlord's daughter. He risked himself and told her that he will come back for thee by moonlight. When he left her there were men who tied her up and said to watch guard for the Highwayman. It hit moonlight and the highwayman was coming. She got her hands loose and held the trigger to warn him. She shot herself and saw her love ride away in the moonlight. Then the highway man came riding towards her in fierce and he got shot because he was trying to save his love. In the story "Typhoid Fever" there was two kids named Francis and Patricia who are roommates in the Fever Hospital. Francis liked Patricia a lot. They talked and and she read a story about the Highwayman. They talked to much and they were warned to stop or they were going to separate. They didn't and Francis was moved him upstairs. He was all alone and was missing her and how he missed her telling the story. He wanted to know what happened about the highwayman. He said that he would love to ride in the moonlight and go see Patricia and would not give a hoot who saw him. He would risk himself to see her. Then Patricia died before she can finish telling him the story. The Highwayman story was about a love relationship, and the Typhoid Fever is about a friendship relationship.

"Typhoid Fever– Present Tense Childhood Memory”

When I was six years old I remember my first Christmas. My first Christmas was huge. I remember the big tree and buying all the decorations. It was a cold Christmas morning and I woke up and remembered that it was Christmas and I went straight to the living room. I went to wake up my foster parents and my brothers and sisters. We went to the tree and looked at it amazing. I saw that all the presents were stacked on top of each other all the way to the ceiling. In the back I saw a big present and thought it would have been for my sister, but it was for me. It was a big porcelain doll that was from England. My foster parent had it shipped for me. I was so amazed and was over protective of it. I loved it so much and did not let any one touch it or be near it. It was one of my most precious gifts ever.

The Cold Equation

In the story "The Cold Equation" the main conflict wit it was that if there was any intruders on the stardust that they would get jettisoned. The guy found a girl on the ship. She was a teenage girl that was half his height. He put his gun down and called his commander and told him it was an emergency. He told the commander that it was not a man it was a girl that wanted to see her brother. The commander still said that she still had to die. She was afraid and said okay. She wrote a letter to her mother father and brother. Then was shot out onto space. If it was Marilyn's point of view she would probably save the person and find more ways to save the person. She would also find people to come and take the person from the ship. It can effect the story by wasting time and a much more difficult task for her.

"The Storyteller" From Another Point of View

Oh, man these children are so annoying. Do they ever be quiet or sit still? Wonder what the aunt is doing now. Telling a story, hmm. Hope that it is good because then all the kids will settle down. This story is going to be interesting. This story is boring. These children can't even stay seated or quiet. I think that I can do better at telling a story. These kids don't want to listen to your story; it is not fun or exciting. I am going to tell the story. I have experience in telling good stories unlike the one you had said.

Chilean Miners Rescue

What I think about what happened with the miners was tragic. One thing that happened was the mine clasped and the people were stuck there for two months. Wow, that is a long time for someone to be under ground. The other one was that they made this thing that can pick one person at a time which would take about 34 hours to rescue all miners. The other one was when one guy came out, but barely even to mine was telling the news that he does not want to mine again. Also, most likely he was diagnosed with Post Dramatic Stress. If I were to be one of those miners stuck in a mine for two months I would be freaked out.

Autobiographical Narrative Reflection

When I was writing my essay I had to put myself into the past. The time and place in which it occurred. My essay is about the time I kicked a six grader in the private part. The reason why I did was because he thought that bulling was the right thing to do. I was so mad when he started to make fun of my brother and no one did anything about it. So I went up to him kicked him the private part and started to hit and punch him. I was pulled off him by the teachers and was sent to the principals office. He was sent to the nurses office crying and complaining. I was almost suspended unless I apologized to the boy. So, I did and was walked back to class and everyone was looking at me in the classroom. I just ignored them and started on my classroom.

Autobiographical Narrative

My Weekened

On Friday I had a football game against Calvin Christian. We were on the lead until we had a injured player who went to the E.R. After that everything went down hill and we lost. On Saturday I went to the Animal for Little Kids 25th Anniversary. It was fun, every one was having a blast. I even got to meet knew people. The food was good; they even had veggie foods. It was till 1:00pm to 9:00pm. When I got home I was exhausted, I was ready to go to sleep. Before I had the chance I got a phone from the office asking whether I would like to go to the Chargers game. I said yes, and was excited to be going in the morning. I was finally Sunday and I was going to the Chargers game. I got there, and we had good seats. We ate lunch and watched the game. We won 10 to 41. HURRAY! I came home and was tired and took a nap.

Memorable Days

When I was four, I moved to Ramona I met my foster parents.
When I was five, I was starting my first day of school at Mt. Woodson Elementary.
It was Christmas and all my family was there and not in jail.
The time I rode my dog like a horse.
When I met my first real friends named Rachel and Julie.
When I was six, I went on the Stratoce Phear for the first time.
When I was five, I learned how to swim by jumping in the pool and almost drowning.
When my brother and I were jumping on the trampling and I flew off.
In first grade, I got in trouble for kicking a sixth grader in the private part.

Rainy Day

So today is Thursday and it is raining and thunder is roaring. I like the rain, but not the thunder. thunder can worry me sometimes. I always wonder how it would feel if someone would have gotten hit by thunder, especially twice in the same place. I would be scared and freaked out. I am cold, but right now I am in class and don't even want to go outside to walk home. Oh man, I forgot that I have practice today. I wonder if we will be outside or in the gym. Or will we have practice at all. I think we will because we have a game on Friday at 7:00pm. I hope we do good because then there will be more tears upon the team mates. I don't want to see it because we try our best and can not win every game. Man football feels good to play. I like it allot.

"Two Kinds" Mother/ Daughter

There are two kinds of people, either they are one who follows or the one who is not a follower. In the story Two Kinds Jing Mie was a follower at one point, but then said to herself that I am not someone who will be bossed and told to be something that I do not want to be. Jing Mie's mother wanted her to become a prodigy that was going to be taken by music. Her mother hear a little girl playing the drums on T.V., she wanted Jing Mie to learn how to play the piano. Her mother was a house keeper that cleaned houses. So she got her into piano lessons with a old guy by the name of Mr. Chong. Mr. Chong was a retired piano teacher. He retired because he was deaf. Her mother payed by cleaning there house. She had lessons every day because her mother wanted her to perform in front of a crowd. The reason why she wanted her to become something was because in China you are not allowed to be known as someone, But in America you are able to be someone. She wanted the best for her daughter. The thing is that Jing Mie didn't think of it that way. She just thought that her mother wanted her be something that she didn't want to be. That brought up past arguments and fighting between one another. It was a horrible thing that Jing Mie said to her mother. After that her mother didn't bother with her. Didn't tell her anything. Later in life she thought to her self that she was a disappointment to her mother. Her mother did a lot for her. Working the the misery of the lost of two babies back in China. To me I think that Jing Mie's mother is correct. She just wanted the best for her daughter.

"Two Kinds" In the Shoes of a Prodigy

If someone was to tell me or push me to become a prodigy I would probably be OK with it at first, but then get frustrated. Maybe even to the point of hurting the person that pushes me to become something I don't want to be. The thing that people would push me to be is a artist. In my opinion I'm not that good of an artist. Things that can occur is yelling, arguing, and even throwing things like paintings. I would probably only yell and argue, none of the throwing paintings. That can hurt really bad, not even joking around. The final outcome of the problem is going to end up in forgiving one another no matter what.

What do I feel about my grade? Well I do some what deserve it, but I try to keep up. I'm just not good in English. English is not my subject as every one knows. I have this grade because I don't do my work. I slack on occasions, but not all the time. I probably try hard more in this class than any other class. My strengths in class is helping people around me and talking, which is bad most of the time. Most of my challenges that I face in class is the computer. I just think that computers have a thing for me. Or I just don't like them. I need to start doing my homework and classwork on time. Not waiting for the last moment. They can help me by studying more and keeping me on task. Even though they can't always be there for me, I need to pick it up and do what I need to do in class. They are not responsible for whether I want tot do my work or not. They are just there for support. Ms. Priester can help me by teaching me more about computers and telling me why computers don't like me. The grade that I hope to have by the end of this quarter is at least a high "C" or a low "B". Well That means that I have to step up to the plate.

"Two Kinds"

When I was about 7 years old my sisters wantted to put a dress on my brother. So at that time I thought that it would be pretty funny, but I really didn't want to becuase I know that he would probably be mad at me later. I found out that it really was at the end. So back to where I was. When my brother got up and went to clean his room, my sisters and I tacled him and tried to put one of my sisters dress on him. He was struggling and at one point he just gave up and we accomplished our goal. I felt bad because he was in a dress and one of my sisters video taped it. He was not mad and it turned out to be a funny christmas home video.

"Character Analysis of Broderick K."

I have a friend that I think of as athletic, funny and out going. The way he walks in the cafe in the morning and the way he comes into the class room is loud. He always has to have some kid of joke that make every one laugh. He is nice and helps people that want to get better at sports. Even though he can have at least one grade that is low. He is a good friend and a good person when he wants to be. In football he calls himself the BEAST. He is really good and can get competitive when he is on the field. He is loud and smart and can do what he sets his mind to. His name is Broderick.

"Everyday Use"Chareacter to Person Comparison Paragraph"

In the story there is a character by the name of Maggie. I know someone who acts like that. I can't put her name but I can put her house. She lives in girls seven. She wears clothes that are better material and wants things all the time. She has friends that are like her as well. The difference between Maggie and the person I know is that Maggie has a guy friend and the person I know does not. Well they are just similar in many ways. I can't really say anything else to describe her. They are too alike to tell any difference.

Everyday Use

In the story Everyday Use Maggie was a person who was hard working. Her sister on the other hand was somewhat flashy looking. Perfect body and nice clothes, and nice feet. To Maggie when her sister came over and started to want things she was all frustrated that she would act that way towards her mother. When Dee wanted the quilts Maggie didn't want her to have them because it was the remembrance of her grandmother. Then at the end she told her that she could take them, she could remember her grandmother with out the quilt. They had a good sister moment.

9/11 paragraph

When 9/11 happened I was at my house with my brother and sister and my foster parents. I was about three to four years old. I remember because I was watching T.V with my sister on the couch. My foster parent came home and told us to turn the channel. They were so shocked and were silent for a moment. They were so scared because they had family down in New York. I couldn't really understand what was all the big commotion. At that point I didn't care, I didn't know what was happening. I was still a baby, well in my families perspective. I thought that I was a big girl, I thought I knew everything. Well I didn't I was acting like I knew what was going on. I tried acting all surprised and worried. I really didn't have a clue. It was a day of silence and every one had thought that it the Iraqi people who made that plane crash into the twin towers. Now in the present day there is a war going on and it is for no reason. Everyone was devastated because some lost family in the building. Now the twin towers are gone and there is no replacement. The people who lost family are not there with them. Now it was said that there was a bomb that was hidden in paint and made the bottom of the the building collapse. Some is still unknown and some of it is known.

Traditions and Hierlooms

When I grow up I want to have some of my old traditions that have been in my family for years. Two traditions that I have are to celebrate "The Day of the Dead," and also to have a family reunion for every one can catch up with one another. Some of our heirlooms that we would pass down is the family China Set for special occasions. We also pass the engagement ring for the boys to give to the women they love or the there daughter to have as her proposal ring. In my family tradition is some thing that keeps our family close. We also like to have some new traditions added, but also keeping the same one as they are. If there was to be any change in the ones we already have that has to be approved by the whole family. I would like to keep them all going, just because it is a family gathering and gives people to catch up with each other. It is good for my family and I. Traditions are the best thing s that could be for my family.

Character prior knowledge paragraph about Leonard Mead

In the story "The Pedestrian" Leonard Mead was a type of man who was a lot different from the people around him. He was the one who would go out and get fresh air. He did not own a television like all the other people around his neighborhood. He was a single man, no children, no wife, and liked to get the fresh air. He was a bit quiet and had a character that was strange to others around him. He was a man who enjoyed to walk and get to know people around him. He enjoyed the out doors because he liked to see every view that was great and amusing to him. He was a peaceful person and minded his own business.

Vocabulary Short Story

Once upon a time there were two pirates one was ZANY, and other one was a STICKLER. They were on there way to find the treasure of the old pirate who sunk with his ship. As we all know a good pirate always sinks with his ship. He has a crew who is always BALLYHOO when it comes to the treasure hunts. The treasure is a RELIC that has survived for centuries. It survived through ocean storms and war between two different crews. They always had a parrot to SURROGATE a dog. It was alot better because it was able to fly. One cold, misty night the ship was hit by a wave that crashed into it and broke the ship into half. The thing was they thought that there journey for the treasure was over. They ended up on an island off the Coast of Madagascar. It was not that bad because they ended up on the island that the treasure was on. They digged for days and "CLINK" they hit something. It was the treasure box. They opened it and found diamond jewelry and golden coins. They all shared the money and were all satisfied.

Mouse in the Cafe

Once upon a time there was a small mouse wandering around the cafe where the students at San Pasqual Academy eat. One day, the mouse was getting really hungry. His stomach was growling, and he smelled the nacho cheese that Johnny was making in the cafe. Johnny is a tall retired Naval Officer. It was about two minutes until everyone was about to get out of class to go eat lunch. The moue wanted to take the risk of getting caught. He left his little house and started to running toward the kitchen. The bell rang, so he knew he had to hurry up and get there before he got stomped on by all the students. It was too late! Everyone was walking through the doors toward the food line. "So many people," he thought to himself. He made it to the kitchen without getting stepped on. "Oh man, I am so glad I was not stomped by all these giants that feast this holy food." He was heading toward the cheese and right when he was about to get a little taste of the hot, wonderful, tasty cheese he was hoping for, Aniesha screamed, "MOUSE!" Everyone tried catching him. They tried throwing things, tried to cover him with a bowl, but then they knew that all he wanted was cheese. A worker got a spoon of cheese and put it on the floor, but acted it wasn’t there. The mouse ran toward it and "BAM!" the mouse was caught and put onto a bowl with plastic wrap over it. They looked at the mouse. He had a sad face, and his stomach was rumbling. Aniesha and everyone felt bad because all the mouse wanted was cheese. They let him out of the bowl onto the concrete and gave him a little spoon of cheese. The mouse was happy and began to shyly toward the spoon. He slowly ate the cheese. Everyone was happy, and the mouse was satisfied.

Regressive Tendencies

When Leonard was sent to the Regressive Tendencies was because he was walking around the streets getting some fresh air. The police officer told him to get into the car and told that they were going to take him to the center. When he gets there it would probably look like a plane room with only a couch and a T.V. There would be people sitting on the couch all into what is on T.V and becoming lazy. People who are used to walking around and getting fresh air. They gain weight little by little and feeling more lazy than ever. A room where they first refuse to watch T.V all the time and then get used to it by force.

Purpose of "The Pedestrian"

In the story the pedestrian it was telling us how the future might end up like. The story was telling us how people were sitting in their house watching television. While he was the only person walking around just getting fresh air and just sigh seeing at 8:00pm to midnight. It was also saying how there was only one police car wondering the streets for crime. In there that alone saying that there is going to be less crime do to T.V. During the day the streets would be full with cars driving and people out and about, but at knight people are at home and the streets are empty. So far, what he had predicted is starting to become true and it is not even 2053.

Life in 2053

Today is the year of 2053, cars fling in the air, houses have a nice view because they are floating. I wake up with a three dimensional alarm clock saying "Yajaira wake up, you need to look beautiful for the day." I wake up get ready and have a robot cooking me breakfast straight out of it's stomach. When I go to school I would be riding in a rocket or a car that flies at the light of speed. So if I am late I and I want to take my time getting ready, and I miss the rocket that's takes me to school. So I can just get in the car and get there in the light of speed. Then I go home and do my homework by time traveling to get my answers. I am done so here I go with my next day. A life of fun and easy going times.

Every where I go I hear atleast one person complain abot the weather. Well I am sick so the weather suck and my day is not good. I wanna just go jump in the pool with my clothes on. Thats seems fun and it must feel good too. I wanna have fun, but it is just too hot.

Friends Or Studying

So, my friend came over to my house and asked me if I wanted to hang out someplace, but I knew I had a science test the next day. I told her that the test was important to me and if I was to fail that it can effect my grade. I told her that I was going to stay home and study for I can pass the test. I know that school is more important than hanging out and waiting for the last minute to study. She under stood from where I was coming from, so she left and went out with someone else.

Paralyzed By Fear

Two weeks ago when I was hiking up the mountain in the back of the Health and Wellness. On the way coming down the mountain I ran into a rattle snake. I was so shaken up that my staff had to help me move. I was shaking and wanting to cry, but I had to move before panicking. I had to find my way around and when I did, I was weak in the legs. So, every time I tried to walk I almost slipped. That was how scared I was. I had never ran into a rattle snake before.

Last week was fun and crazy at the same time. I had football practice and that was tiring. My house and I went to Boomers on Friday and we all rode on the Go Karts. We left at 6:30 and came back at 10:00. It was one of our best house outings that we had ever had no drama. I am starting to like my house a lot. I like how we are all open and out going. On Saturday I left early in the morning to go on pass. I went to go visit my sister and my niece. I had a great time and got to go shopping and spend time with my niece. I left on Sunday night at 7:00. I was tired and went straight to sleep. On Monday I went back to school and a chill day I went to practice and did my homework. Then I went to go boxing in the Tech Center. I am supper sore and tired. Today was a strange day and very annoying day for some reason, but it is not my day and hope tomorrow is better.

My Most Memorable Birthday

One of my most memorable birthdays I have ever had was when I was nine years old. That was when all my family came for the exception of my mom.To me it did not really matter because I had a good time and was happy. I was able to see my dad and have all my siblings there to help me celebrate my birthday. In the look of my eyes they had a great time and I knew that they were not upset or had anything in there mind but family together. When we are all together we mix a bowl of happiness, laughter, and love in one so nothing will be able to break us. I had a god time , we all were in the pool dragging one another and throwing one another in the water. I have some things that I want to say but I know I can’t. I love my family, I love how close and tight we all are. My family and my foster parents took their time to set this party up. There was a B.B.Q, swimming, laser tag, and jumping in the jumper. Man was I tired at the end of the day, we all sat together and watched a movie.

My Most Embarrasing Moment

One of my most embarrassing moments was when I was here at SPA playing volleyball out by the softball field on a Saturday night. I was playing and the ball was hit over by me and I dived for the ball and ended up in the splits. The thing is that I hot it over and made that point. The only person who saw was my housemate, thank goodness. My pants ripped in the center of my bottom. So now I have lost a pair of pants thanks to that game. The good news is that our team won with a five point lead. That would have been even more embarrassing if everyone saw. I wouldn’t want that to happen because then it would have thrown me off my game.

My weekend Was...

On Friday August 6, 2010 my house and I went to the movies to see Step Up 3D. Oh, man it was great, in fact it was better than the other entire Step Up movies that where out. We all left at 7:00 and didn't return until 10:00. It caught my attention big time. I wanted to use the restroom, but I didn’t want to miss any part of the movie. On Saturday August 7, 2010 I had football practice at 10:00 in the morning. We had to run and review over some plays; I thought it would be hard; it turned out to be an easy day. When practice was over I went home to take a shower and left to go on a food run. At the end of the day I went outside to go hang out with some friends. Sunday August 8, 2010 I went on a house outing with my staff to the mall. We went to go see the new Forever 21. Man the store is like 6 stores in one, it is humongous. That store is like a girls dream closet. When we left and came back home I had to get ready to go surfing at La Jolla Shores. I had fun; I am known to be somewhat of a Pro surfer. There were some good waves and the water wasn’t that cold. When I was surfing I saw Sting Ray that was 3 ft long. I had a great weekend and hope to keep my week that way too.

First Day Of School

So today is the second day of school and the days are going by fast. I enjoy my classes, but they are all course classes. They are easy and I have my old teachers from last year, for the exception of one. So I have the opportunity of getting extra help. So my teachers are getting me prepared for a four year college and I am ready for the year. Oh, so sophmore year is the busy year. I guess, that's probably why they say that freshman is a smooth year and sophmore year is a busy. We are in the middle so we have some time to choose what direction we want to go to. Either to graduate or not to and just fail. I know what I want and I am going for it. I am going to try hard and enjoy my sophmore year. I still can't believe that I am a sophmore. Well I just want to say good luck to all those who stand in front, next, and behind me.

Thursday, May 20, 2010

Oh man, today was drama free and I am so happy. I am getting ready to go to a wedding in a couple of weeks. Next week I get to get my brides made dress. I can't wait to go see what it looks like. I can't wait to see my niece in her flower girl dress. I remember when I was flower girl to almost every wedding I went to. I loved being the flower girl. I guess I passed the flower girl job to my niece. At least it wasn't my sisters friends, friends daughter be the flower girl. That girl was scary not to lie or be mean about it. I am so happy because I am a brides made for the first time in my life. Huh, so what I'm I going to do now that I am a brides made, I wonder if I am considered as a women. I hope that I don't have to live up to my sisters expectations as a brides made. Even if I do, I bet that I am going to have fun no matter what.

APA Teacher- Less Lesson

When I was reading the documents on APA it was telling me how we are all supposed to write a correct research paper. Citing a source means that we need to print out our information and make sure that it is completely done. A writer needs to know what their topic is and needs information on their topic in order to cite a source. The differences between a direct quote and summarized text. The direct quotes need double quotation marks, page numbers, copyright permission, author, and the year. Summarized text includes the author’s last name and the date of the publication. A reference page is a full listing of all the sources you used in your essay. Listing the sources in alphabetical order from A-Z makes a reference page. Using APA helps you organize the paper and cite the resources correctly.

Free Blog Post

This weekend I am going to go surfing with a group of kids at the La Jolla beach. I am so excited because then I wouldn't have to stay in this boring place all week. I would have something to do and not be on the couch watching television. Sometimes I wish for some kind of miracle that will help me get out of here. Even though this is where I wanted to come but I didn't want this drama to get too far. I just think, in my opinion that some people just need to grow up and stop acting as if they are little four years old. In some cases people can be fake and not know it. I know many people that do that. Some people lie to get more students to come here. I think that is wrong, they can't just leave all the negative things out. Well I have to go so, that is my life and opinion about where I live.

Prom Night

On Thursday the 29th of April our school had a prom at the new hotel called the Grand Del Mar Hotel. When we first arrived there it was so amazing, it was big and beautiful. I thought that maybe I would see rich people there. I was so glad that we were the first school to have a prom there. When we got there, their was waiters awaiting us with some beverages. There was also a red carpet leading into the door way. We all took pictures and just talked until we went in. When we finally got in we saw tables and fancy plate settings. Also we had a D.J and a big dance area. Maybe not so big. When salad was sent out to us it was so amazing, it tasted as if I was in heaven. We also had a boneless chicken breast, carrots, asparagus, mashed potato's with gravy. Then the desert came out and we had a fudge brownie and ice cream with a breaded outside. Every one danced to music and had a great time. Every one had taken pictures and some people competed in dancing. We even got the teachers to start dancing. I had a great time and was glad that I went to prom and didn't stay home. I also love that every one was talking about how good the food was the next day.

Blog Value

To me blogging is a good thing as long as you don't put your name in any of your papers. It lets you give people heads up about thing that happened that others don't know about. It also lets you express what you think is write or wrong. All around the world you could see that people have different opinion's on economic learning's. If you have not heard about the new law in Arizona then you should hear me out. The law is that any border patrol has the write to pull you over if you are a colored person. If you don't have you birth certificate on you and you are colored, they can take you to jail or if you are a Mexican then take you back to Mexico. See, people like to check out our blogs because we give information that you may not even know about. Blogging not only helps you but, it also helps us give our own opinion's. It is also helpful for us to express how our day was or tell what we did that weekend. Having a blog is no big deal to most parents because of all the information that we get to put on into it. It gives us a chance to give us a lesson about how the world really is. It teaches us about how people are and what they think of all the problems in the US.

Dear Mr. Major:

Iam writing to you about a change in allowing us to wear tank tops in school. The sun will be out more often since it is going to be summer. Since you are the principal, it is our job as students to ask permission to allow tank tops on school grounds.

I would like to see this change occur because summer time is coming and the sun will be out. We live up near mountains and the sun shinning bright, but we should be allowed to wear them. Not every one enjoys wearing T-Shirts , on occasionally people want to wear tank tops because it is hot. During the summer people want to work on their sun tan.

Thank you in advanced for taking your time to hear us out by reading this letter. Hope you think what we said and get back to us as soon as possible. I look forward to hear what you think about our favor.

Sincerely,

Yajaira Orozco

My Weekend

On Friday I went to the gym to go to the Zomba exercise and dance that was going on. I had fun and other people around me were laughing and dancing as well. On Saturday I went to the boys side to play pool and kept on losing. Kelsey, Jorge and I were playing fools ball and my friend got hit in the face and we all started laughing and finally fell on the floor and kept on laughing. I had a great time hanging out with my friends. Sunday a couple of guys on the boys side came over and chilled out on our porch. I was trying to learn how to ride a skate board and I was doing well until
I was trying to do it myself and tripped on the board and fell. It was funny and Everyone around me was laughing, even I was. So it didn't matter if there was people laughing around me. Then a couple of people and I went to play some football,it was fun until people were getting injured. We were so close on winning until our best player had to switch because he kept on tackling everyone. It was fun and team playing. Then we went to go play a game of softball, and i couldn't play or else I would have been on restriction. Everyone had fun and was playing fairly. Over all my weekend was great.

In this article i will be talking about the John F. Kennedy assassination and these two young kids who will meet in the middle. Two kids who are different in money and race. A goal that John F. Kennedy was trying to achieve. There is a girl by the name of Elena. A Puerto Rican girl who lives in a greasy, old looking apartment in New Jersey. She has a nick name that people call her which is SKINNY BONES. She is smart and very geeky, but she is sweet. There is a boy by the name of Eugene. A white boy, long blond hair, with freckles, and glasses. He has a nick name too, which is HICK because of his freckles on his face. He is very smart with all AP classes, and is very shy. They ended up knowing each other by her running into him at school number 13 in front of his locker, all the way on the other side from her locker. Elena was supposed to go to his house to study , but his mother opened the door and looked at her and said, "You live in those building up there, right?" Then after Elena said yes, his mother told her to go home because Eugene didn't need any help because he was already smart. So Elena ran back home and saw that her mother had already gone to church and her father had just got back from work and in the living room talking to his neighbors. On the day John F. Kennedy was assassinated they were all in shock and was just watching the news on what happened. Elena's mother wanted to go to church to pray for him because he was a good man. A man who was a family man and loved his wife and kids. This day occurred on November 22, 1963 during a nice warm sunny day. It happened in front of many people who was cheering for him. They live in an apartment called El Building in New Jersey. This day was important to Elena because she was going to Eugene's house to study and would probably have a chance to see the rooms instead of the kitchen. This day was important to the Americans because John F. Kennedy was fighting for civil rights and people thought that since he had died that all his progress would be washed away and it wasn't going to happen any more. People may lose the grief, but will still remember what had happened to Kennedy. May we let his body rest in peace and let his achievements satisfy him in his grave.
