"American History" Content Paragraph

On the other hand I think she should have been more upset the fact that Eugene's mother did not let her in the house just because she was Puerto Rican. It not the child who should not be excepted it should the the person who is discriminating because they want to be like those who want to be snobby. I think that the mother should have been happy that Eugene had met a new friend since they had just barley moved there. Discrimination spread all throughout where she was living. She could not be in Honor classes because she was Puerto Rican. Even though she had straight A's and was very smart. She had to live in the El Building apartments because that was where all the immigrants lived when they had just moved to the US. Another one was that she could not go over to Eugene's house because she was Puerto Rican and lived in the El Building apartments. Once Eugen's mother saw her she told her that he does not need help studying so she should go home. Then the mother closed the dorr behind her. When I was to read this story I was thinking to myself; wow, just thinking about the way they treated immigrants was messed up. I felt that treating people differently should have never came. I felt sorry for the fact that she had to live that way. The way she took things calmly was amazing. I would have been upset if someone was to do that to me.
